When will the wildfires in LA end? This is what the experts predict
The wildfires in Los Angeles are expected to persist for several more days, with experts warning of challenges ahead.
As of January 14, 2025, the Palisades Fire is only 17% contained, having burned 24,000 acres. Over 40,000 acres in Southern California have been affected in recent weeks.
The fires are exacerbated by hot, dry winds, although these have recently lessened, potentially aiding containment efforts
The severe weather conditions are compounded by a delayed rainy season, marking the second-driest winter on record with only 0.16 inches of rain.
Experts foresee that the fires may be controlled soon, with over 5,000 firefighters deployed.
However, full extinguishment could take much longer, possibly a month.
Firefighters are focusing on creating fire perimeters using existing urban structures, acknowledging the difficulty of managing fires within a city compared to forested areas.
