To extend the shelf life of bananas and keep them fresh for a longer time, it's best to store them away from other fruits that emit high levels of ethylene. 

Keeping bananas in a cool, dry place, such as on a kitchen counter or in a fruit bowl, is ideal. You can also hang bananas on a hook to reduce bruising.
