Flu Rates Surge Across the US: See the 5 States Bucking the Trend

Flu cases are spiking across the United States, with many states experiencing higher-than-average rates of infection. This seasonal surge has left healthcare systems stretched and communities on high alert.

However, five states—Hawaii, Maine, Montana, South Dakota, and Vermont—are reporting significantly lower flu activity compared to the rest of the nation.

Experts credit these states' success to higher vaccination rates, effective public health campaigns, and proactive preventative measures.

Conversely, regions with lower vaccination uptake, crowded indoor gatherings, and reduced mask use have seen flu rates soar.

States in the South and Midwest are particularly hard-hit, with hospitals in these areas noting increased admissions for flu-related complications.

Health officials urge residents in high-risk areas to get vaccinated, practice good hygiene, and stay home if they feel unwell.

Flu shots remain the most effective defense, significantly reducing the risk of severe illness and hospitalization.
