Washing broccoli might seem like a simple task, but there’s a good reason why I always wash it twice.
Broccoli, like many vegetables, can carry dirt, pesticides, and even small insects from the farm to your table.
Giving it two washes ensures that you’re removing all these potential contaminants for a cleaner and healthier meal.
First Wash:The first wash helps remove any visible dirt and loose particles that may be stuck to the surface of the florets and stems.
It's also a good idea to soak the broccoli in cold water for a few minutes to loosen any stubborn grime.
Second Wash:The second wash is to ensure any remaining pesticides or residue that could still be lurking in the nooks and crannies of the broccoli are eliminated.
You can use a vegetable brush to scrub the stems, which are often the most overlooked part.
