Northern lights will be visible in these states this weekend

The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, are a captivating natural phenomenon resulting from solar activity interacting with Earth's magnetic field.

As of January 25, 2025, there are no specific forecasts indicating that the Northern Lights will be visible in the contiguous United States this weekend.

However, during periods of heightened solar activity, the aurora can occasionally be seen in northern U.S. states.

For instance, on December 31, 2024, a geomagnetic storm allowed the aurora to be visible as far south as 18 U.S. states.

To increase your chances of witnessing the Northern Lights, monitor space weather forecasts from reputable sources like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and look for geomagnetic storm watches or alerts

Clear, dark skies away from city lights offer the best viewing conditions.

Remember, auroral activity is unpredictable, and sightings depend on various factors, including solar activity, weather conditions, and geographic location
