Powerball player just misses $101 million jackpot in Illinois — but still wins big

A Powerball player in Illinois narrowly missed the $101 million jackpot in the February 5, 2025, drawing but still secured a substantial prize.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 3, 12, 19, 27, 45, with the Powerball number 10.

In Illinois, matching five white balls without the Powerball typically results in a $1 million prize.

If the player added the Power Play option, the prize could be multiplied by a factor of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10, depending on the multiplier drawn.

For example, a recent winner in East Canton, Ohio, turned a $50,000 prize into $150,000 by adding the 3X Power Play multiplier.

The winner has 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize.

It's advisable for the ticket holder to sign the back of the ticket and contact the Illinois Lottery Commission for further instructions on claiming the prize.
